Award-winning Boston choreographer Rebecca Rice and cultural entrepreneur Anna Winestein, discuss their experiences as cultural envoys for the US Department of State to Kazakhstan and how American modern dance helps foster cultural diplomacy. Rice also discusses her process of creating an original choreographic work for the Samruk Dance Company, and Winestein shares her experiences of assisting and observing Rice in the studio. Includes footage of the new work, Uplift, performed by Samruk, and excerpts from other pieces. Co-presented with the Ballets Russes Cultural Partnership and Rebecca Rice Dance.

Anna Winestein is the Executive Director of The Ballets Russes Cultural Partnership at Boston University, a non-profit cultural organization devoted to supporting cultural exchange and understanding between the US and countries of the former Soviet Union.
